Potential economic boom to Lincoln as it twins with second Chinese city

The city of Lincoln is already twinned with Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in Germany, Port Lincoln in Australia, Radomsko in Poland and Tangshan in China.
As of Tuesday, it is also twinned with a second city in China, Nanchang, which has a population of over 5 million.
The twinning was formalised on Tuesday by the Right Worshipful mayor of Lincoln Brent Charlesworth and the mayor of Nanchang, Guo An.
The delegation from the Chinese city promised that following the agreement, a new wave of Chinese students will come to the city, of which there are already over one and a half thousand, who each spend approximately £20,000 a year. This brings a £32 million pound boost to the local economy.
Lincoln is also set to receive visitors from our German twin city this weekend, as the Neustadt Liedertafel choir is performing with the Lincoln Choral society on Saturday in Lincoln Cathedral. More on that back on the home page.
Kate Fenn is the twinning officer for the City of Lincoln Council, and she chatted to our reporter Sebastian Edgington-Cole about twinning, so click listen to find out more.
