The International Bomber Command Centre, which aims to commemorate the actions of Bomber Command in World War 2, has received a floral mosaic from the Dutch Government.
Exhibited on the East Lawn of Lincoln Cathedral, it’s a gift to thank British Forces amongst others for their participation in Operation Manna.
The Operation involved air dropping eleven thousand tonnes of food into the Netherlands during the winter period of 1944-45, a time during which the country was starving.
An unveiling ceremony took place on the 21 April 2015 on the site of the mosaic, which was attended by members of the Dutch Government, veterans and servicemen and women, as well as various members of the community.
Our News Editor Sebastian Edgington-Cole also attended, and gave us a full report so click listen to find out more.
