National pie week has been going on all week, with various pie makers all over the country pay homage to one of Britain’s oldest snacks. The week began as a marketing campaign for a pastry company in the UK a few years ago, but quickly became a national event.

Lincoln has been getting in on the action too, with the Boardwalk Bistro at Whisby World Nature Centre making a new pie-centric menu especially for the week.

The iconic Brown’s Pie Shop located at the top of steep hill predicts that this week will boost their business as well by getting people back into pies. The shop’s owner, Danny Gill was excited about the prospect of national pie week.  “I think it’s good that it gets recognition. I think it’s fantastic that the humble pie does get celebrated because it’s part of our culture.” he said,  “It’s as much of a part of British food culture as a Sunday roast, it’s timeless.”
