The Rock Train Takeover

Written by on 22nd November 2011

After a mammoth 5 interviews in our last show, there is more music this week  with over 20 tracks to listen to ranging from metal, hardcore punk, thrash, and most styles in between.

In the first half of this week’s show Sam is joined by guest presenter Mick ‘the beard’ Staley who interviews Simon Hall, lead singer of metal band Beholder.

Simon reveals the name of Beholder’s new album and talks about his music and his passion for discovering new bands through his annual competition, Metal for the Masses. He also talks about his involvement in the Bloodstock festival.

In the second half of the show The Rock Train is literally taken over by Arthur and ‘Jimbo’ of Lincoln band Scrimshaw and Ash of Boston’s Kill The Ideal. They talk about their own musical influences and choose some of the tracks that inspired them. Plus they squeeze in 3 tracks each from their own bands. Listen out for the shortest song ever recorded.

The discussion, with Sean ‘the hair’ Redmond at the controls, covers the pros and cons of jumping off stage and which local bands are worth checking out. Ash then recorded acoustic versions of some Kill The Ideal songs.

Nottingham band Wasteland close the show with a haunting version of the first song they wrote as a band, Superstition.
