The Rock City Train and the Second Download Festival Special
Written by The Rock Train on 29th August 2013
We met Vega earlier this year at the HRH AOR Festival in Sheffield and it was great to catch up with them again in the East Midlands. They told us all about their latest album and their forthcoming plans. Vega really are a band that should be playing stadiums, they are that good. Their songs have more hooks than a cloakroom and on stage they are full of energy. Good old sing along rock!
Fellow Spinefarm Records band Santa Cruz were playing only their second ever UK show, having played London the night before. We were the first radio station to interview them in the UK, as far as we know, anyway! This band hail from Finland but their image and music hails from many moons ago back in the glory days of US hair metal. The sound may not be new but boy do they play it well. Their show was full of energy and they soon had the packed crowd moving.
We start off this week’s show with the amazing new track from Ragga Metallers Skindred, called Ninja. Try and keep still during this track. You won’t be able to stop yourself from moving and grooving.
Headline track on Thursday is the new Alter Bridge track, Addicted to Pain.
Our Friday show sees us complete the second part of our coverage of this year’s Download Festival. Guests include Thunder, Lady Starlight, Graveyard and loads more plus there’s music from the main festival headliners, Rammstein, Iron Maiden and Slipknot.
Mark and Kev spent many hours slaving over a hot microphone interviewing bands at Download and you can find longer versions of the Download interviews on our Soundcloud channel here….
