The Mayor’s Flash Mob at The Stonebow
Written by Ed Wellman on 17th May 2014
People venturing down Lincoln High Street this afternoon were stopped by a one off event.
A flash mob started around half past one to the sound of clapping and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy”.
Dozens of people of all ages started dancing in unison across the width of the High Street, and many more crowded round and halted their shopping trip to see what was happening.
The spontaneous event featured several songs including ones from the films Star Wars and Grease.
It was to raise awareness and funds for the Mayor of Lincoln’s chosen charity, The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
The Mayor, Cllr Patrick Vaughan, even participated in the event, dressed in his official robes but also donning a pair of sunglasses to match the beautiful weather that graced the dancers and the crowd.
