Young Journalist Academy Takeover
Written by Siren FM on 27th October 2010
In this academic year the Monday editions of No Adults Allowed are changing. Firstly, the name has changed – the Lincolnshire Young Journalist Academy has been renamed the Young Journalist Academy as they are about to go nationwide. Along with the academy’s name change the show title has changed too and is now called the YJA Takeover.
More excitingly the format of the hour has changed, previously the show contained material linked by Siren and LYJA staff. We are now broadcasting shows fully produced by students from the Young Journalist Academy. Siren and YJA are now running a series of weekend workshops where the students can come in and feature material produced by the academy’s newsrooms. The students also create content on the day and have full editorial control over what they broadcast.
There have already been two shows broadcast from students at the Priory LSST Academy in Lincoln. As it’s half term this week next Monday’s edition will revert back to the old format but make sure you tune in on the 8th November when students from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School in Alford will be taking their turn.
The groups are also producing videos of the workshops and in the video below you can find out what the students from the first group at the Priory LSST Academy thought of their experience. You can find out more about the Young Journalist Academy here.
