This week’s No Adults Allowed Takeover saw the return of some of the students from Priory LSST; Hayley, Elizabeth and Harriet came in to produce a show all about music. In the show they had a discussion about the way music is changing, both for the consumer and the musician, and they revealed their own top 8 chart.

Before the show they challenged some of their fellow students at the school to their own music quiz, the winners were revealed in the programme.

Hayley and Elizabeth also spoke to Cathy Thompson before she took part in the Midnight Moonwalk in London on Saturday. The walk is a huge fundraising event which involved 15,000 women walking a total of 26 miles through the city to raise money for breast cancer, you can find out more about the charity here.

While the girls were busy producing the show fellow Academy member Ellen was producing a video documenting their expereince at Siren FM which you can watch below.

Lincoln: Mind Your Business

Posted: April 28th, 2011 | Author: | Comments Off

Hi I’m Andy Deighton welcoming you to the ‘Lincoln: Minding Your Business’ web page.

I have lived and worked in Lincoln for most of my life. I left Lincoln Christs Hospital School & started as an apprentice Fitter at Ruston Bucyrus like the rest of my mates. The 1980’s meant I was made redundant (like the rest of the City), fortunately milk was still being delivered at that time, so I got a job with the Co-op where I developed an interest in politics and became their youngest union representative at 20.

I was headhunted for engineering jobs until I took myself off to university to study Economics & Geography in London. However, running events was just as interesting. My voluntary role as entertainments officer developed into full time work following just 4 days commuting into ‘The City’ as a trainee economist for British Airways pensions…. Yup, was as dull as it sounds….

The last 20 years I’ve been mostly self-employed in stage, production & event management.  I have been a fundraising manager for a national charity as well as the events officer for Lincoln City Council (remember fireworks, floating stage and boat parades at  the Water Carnival?)

On the way to Siren FM I picked up a teaching qualification & the latter helped develop my dancing hobby into full time business when I brought salsa and jive to Lincoln in the guise of Jivefusion; a very successful business teaching thousands to dance in and around Lincolnshire.

Other hobbies have included rugby union, guitar playing, mountain biking and more recently quiz nights and geocaching….

As a businessman I have met many people whilst trying to keep my enterprises above water and I have hands on experience of dealing with many of the issues which still face us all today.

So why am I on Siren FM????

As an events manager I got involved with radio and TV promotions, and for the last couple of years I’ve been the “Strictly Come Dancing” correspondent for BBC Lincolnshire… and being a presenter seemed like fun…..

Siren FM Schedule Changes

Posted: January 25th, 2011 | Author: | Comments Off

It’s all change this week at Siren as one show is finishing, another show is moving and three shows are returning after their Christmas break.

The Ten Tonnes Team

Last night was the last ever Ten Tonnes of Pure Metal as the team have given up their programme in order to concentrate on their studies for the final semester of their time at the university.  In just over a year the team have been bringing you the best in metal and managed to bag some exclusive interviews along with gaining access to two of the biggest metal festivals in the country.  We wish them the best of luck for their studies.

Meanwhile Behind The Headlines has moved day and time from it’s previous slot on a Friday.  Professor Richard Keeble will now be presenting his show every Monday at 12pm with his repeat also being moved to Tuesday mornings at 8.

The City Vibe Crew

Yesterday also saw the return of the No Adults Allowed Young Journalist Academy Takeover.  With the school term back in full swing the newsrooms are producing more content and will be bringing shows to you every Monday at 4pm.  At the other end of the week another two shows will be making their return, City Vibe is back this Friday at 5pm and the student journalists at the university will be bringing you all the top news stories in Lincoln.

12pm this Sunday see the return of The Linc Podcast, the team from Lincoln’s student newspaper have come back from their Christmas break recharged and are ready to report all the news from the city and campus.

So make sure you tune in for all those shows and more here at Siren 107.3FM.
