Murder in Play. LINCOLN THEATRE ROYAL.Lincoln Theatre RoyalClasketgateLincoln, Lincolnshire LN2 1JJUKLINCOLN THEATRE ROYAL.
Now until 11/5 at 7.30pm (Thurs & Sat Matinee at 2pm) : Murder in Play.
Written by Simon Brett, a prolific writer of whodunnits in the Golden Age tradition of detective fiction, Murder in Play is a unique comedy thriller which will entertain the audience with its wickedly clever mix of eccentric characters, complex plot twists and gentle humour.
The production stars Dean Gaffney, best known for his eleven years as Robbie Jackson in EastEnders who is also a noted stage actor, Gemma Bissix, another EastEnders star as a child but better known these days for her award-winning role as the villainous Clare Devine in Hollyoaks and Katy Manning, the iconic Doctor Who assistant Jo Grant, They are joined by respected stage and television actors David Callister and Richard Tate.
The dress rehearsal of Boris Smolensky’s production, “Murder at Priorswell Manor,” is not going well. The actors are more interested in their egos than the play, the props seem to have a life of their own, and the director has personal problems!
Suddenly fiction becomes reality when Boris’s wife, Renee is murdered on stage. Who is the murderer? Was it Ginette, Boris’s pretty but not exactly clever mistress? Was it Renee’s acting rival and former TV soap star, Christa? Or was it Boris himself?
Using a play-within-a-play device, the fictional theatre company keeps the audience guessing with numerous clues about the murderer until the final, thrilling denouement.

Writing tutor Joel Stickley will guide you through lessons on plotting (twist endings should be a surprise even to you), characterisation (if in doubt, write a thinly-veiled version of yourself), dialogue (“ejaculated” is always better than “said”) and every other facet of the craft in an attempt to help you become the best of the worst – the cream of the crap, if you will.

We Are Poets film screening.Lincoln Drill HallFree School LaneLincoln , Lincolnshire LN2 1EYUKSun 12/5 at 3pm : We Are Poets film screening.
We are Poets presents a moving and radical story of youth, art and freedom of expression, as a remarkable team of six British teenagers are chosen to represent the UK at Brave New Voices: the most prestigious Poetry Slam competition in the world. From their inner city lives on the red bricked backstreets of Northern England, to a stage in front of the White House in Washington DC, the young poets explosively lay bare the concerns of a generation as they take on the world and prepare for a transformational and emotional journey of a lifetime.
Cinematic, imaginative and deeply poignant, We are Poets is a unique portrait of multicultural Britain and a testament to the power of creativity, community and the dynamism of young people. Anyone tempted to dismiss today’s youth as politically apathetic better pay heed: here is electrifying evidence to the contrary.

The next day the Stones travelled by train to Manchester to appear on the first ever edition of Top of The Pops and played ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’. Tonight, local musicians play tribute to the Stones by performing their own versions of some of the band’s vast catalogue of songs.
