Hello again! It’s time for another update about all things Siren. First of all this week sees the last edition of the LYJA Takeover of No Adults Allowed as the Academy is now off for the Summer holidays. The show will be returning when the Academy resumes in the new academic year.
Siren Folk Special
This Sunday marks the anniversary of the Tupholme Folk Festival which took place 40 years ago to the day just outside of Bardney. To commemorate this occasion Alan Ritson has produced a documentary with Richard Treasure. They’ve managed to get interviews with all the acts that were there including Steeleye Span, Ralph McTell and The Byrds. The event is said to be the biggest music event to ever happen in the county and we will be exclusively broadcasting the documentary this Sunday between 10am and 12:30pm. You can find out more about the background of the event by visiting the Bardney Village History website.
The Tom Davies Show with Tom Davies
If you are member of Tom Davies’ group on Facebook you may have already noticed that he is dedicating the second hour of his show next Wednesday to local music. His aim is to fill the hour exclusively with music from the local area so if you’re in a band and you’d like to get some airplay send your music to him at tomdavies@sirenonline.co.uk.
Siren Summer School
To round things up we’ve still got some places available on the Summer school that we are running in August. The first week is between the 8th and 12th August and is for 10 to 12 year olds; and the second week is between 15th and 19th August and is for 13 to 15 year olds. If you’re interested you can email summerschool@sirenonline.co.uk or phone 01522 886001 for more details.
That’s all for this week, look out for more soon.

Here is, a little bit later than promised, this week’s update of all the things happening here at Siren FM HQ. We’ve got more show changes to tell you about this week as one show has finished, one programme has a line up change and a new show has started.
Lawrence Whitaker presented his final show with us last Thursday, he has been hosting a short series of programmes on Siren for the past couple of months and as he has completed his degree at the University he is now moving on. We wish him the best of luck as he goes on to further his career.
Somebody else we will be saying goodbye to is Dom McAndrew, he has been involved with Siren for a total of 4 years now and he presented his last edition of End of the Week on the 25th of June. As well as being one of the presenters on End of the Week he also played a crucial role in the delivery of Siren News as the station’s News Coordinator. We’d like to thank him for all his hard work and wish him luck as he goes on to complete his Masters. Liam Juniper will be attempting to fill Dom’s place on End of the Week for the next couple of months.

Tom Davies returns this week.
Our last piece of programming news sees the return of Tom Davies, he’s back from University for the Summer and will be presenting a series of shows through until September. He’s on every week Monday to Wednesday between 9am and 11am and again on Friday along with Liam Juniper between 9am and 11am.
Summer School
You may have already heard the trails on air and hopefully you’ll have seen some of the coverage in the local press. Siren FM is hosting a Summer School for two weeks in August, the first week will be for 10 to 12 year olds and the second week will be for 13 to 15 year olds. Full details can be found on this web post, if you’re interested in the school make sure you get in touch as soon as possible because interest is high.
Keep an eye out for all the latest Siren news at the weekend.

It’s been a while since we last gave you an update of everything happening here at Siren FM HQ so we’ve got lots of news for you about some of the things happening here over the Summer. Firstly, as the academic year is now over Behind the Headlines, New Wave, City Vibe and The Linc Weekly are taking a break until September.
New Shows
However, don’t fret as we have three new shows to the schedule to keep you entertained over the coming months. Every Sunday at 9am we have two new shows called Euranet UK and Network Europe, these are part of the Euranet project that we have been contributing to for a few months now. The shows tackle the big issues affecting Europe and feature content from community radio stations across the UK. The show is repeated on Monday at 12pm.

Midweek Madams
If you’re a fan of folk music you’ll be pleased with our new show on the first Thursday of the month. At 8pm Alan Ritson brings Siren Folk with interviews from some of the biggest names on the folk scene and the best new music coming from it. Another new show to Thursdays comes from Lawrence Whitaker who brings you a unique mix of comedy and witty banter every week at 6pm.
As well as our new programmes we have a couple of shows returning to the Siren FM schedule; these are Midweek Madams, on every Wednesday at 1pm, and the No Adults Allowed YJA Takeover, on every Monday at 4pm.
Simply Jazz

The Manhattan Dolls
On the 2nd and 3rd of July the Manhattan Dolls are going to be singing with the band of the Royal Air Force college, the RAF Swing Wing, at this years Royal Air Force Waddington International Airshow. They played there last year and they impressed the audience so much that they are back again this year with the band. They’ll be singing the golden melodies from the golden age of swing music of the 40s. Siren FM’s Thomas Stevens of the Siren Simply Jazz show will be there to
interview them and you’ll be able to hear that interview on his show on Monday 4th July at 8pm.
That’s everything for this week, we’re going to be giving you weekly updates from now on so look out for more station news next week.

After concerted efforts from a whole range of people, but most especially Geoff Thompson, the aerial is repaired and back broadcasting as it should do to the Siren FM area.
Thanks for your understanding. Apparently the repair is so robust it will outlive the life of the building!
Happy listening – Andrew David

We must apologise that, at the moment, we are not broadcasting on full power as the aerial has suffered in the recent high winds. Currently we have our aerial supremos looking at the best was to get us back up to full output.
For the moment, though, we can only be heard very close (about 500 metres) to the transmitter which is on top of one of the University buildings. The best way to hear us clearly is on line at www.sirenonline.co.uk.
As soon as it’s fixed we’ll let you know so that you can get back to full effect on 107.3FM.
Andrew and the Siren FM Team
