POPPY APPEAL – Chris Spring was my after 6pm guest and is appealing for volunteers to shake the tins to make sure the work of the Royal British Legion, where every penny raised is converted into help for service men, women and their families, is maximised.  Nearly 3 quarters of a million pounds was distributed  last year in Lincolnshire and provided much needed help in a range of ways.

Kathleen steps into the ring with Callum

Kathleen Drury went along to South Holland Boxing Academy in Holbeach to meet Callum ‘the one’ Johnson, current Commonwealth Federation silver medalist.

Callum Johnson is currently in Delhi India representing Scotland in the 2010 Commonwealth Games and is tipped to be one of the favourites to bring back a medal.  Callum got into boxing from an early age following in his fathers footsteps.  After the Commonwealth Games Callum has hopes to turn professional as well as to go on to compete in the 2012 Olympics.

On Andrew’s last show we heard about his preparations for the Games and we hope to find out more from him over the next couple of weeks while he’s out in Delhi.
