And on The Rock Train this week…….

Written by on 24th May 2012

This week The Rock Train welcomes our special guests Down The Machine, a band from Leeds whose record label boss was a student at the University of Lincoln many moons ago.

Bang the drum for Down The Machine

Down The Machine left us with 5 great tracks recorded in the Siren studio. In between their songs they chat with Sammy and tell us how they formed the band and their plans for the future.  Their songs stand up well to the acoustic treatment and Steve Wilson gives a great vocal performance.

In the second hour of the show we feature an interview Kev did with Charlotte Wessels from Dutch band Delain. This band are on the way up will no doubt be making waves with their new album ‘We are the Others’ which is released in June.

Charlotte wrote the title track about her reaction to the story of  Goth music fan Sophie Lancaster who was fatally attacked for ‘looking different’. She tells us that the story inspired the song which decries discrimination in all its forms.

On a brighter note Charlotte spoke to us on her birthday and spent the interview desperate to tuck in to the birthday cake she was presented with just as we started our chat….

Charlotte from Delain

On this week’s show there is a heap of new music from;

VK Lynne, Vita Nova, Slasher, Black Moth, Aonia, Taproot, The Sea, Heaven’s Basement,  Lilygun and Exide. There’s also a couple of songs by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds which were chosen by Delain.

(Listen out for our overture track this week. It is a musical tribute to the late Robin Gibb by a certain Ozzy Osbourne.)
